Our Animal Adoption Center will be in our Concordia building which is currently under construction. Our organization also provides limited emergency assistance to pets on the island when the visiting veterinarian is not available. We also help to transport animals to St. Maarten for emergencies. The adoption center will be small (for only 10 animals, including boarding kennel) and also serve as an educational tool for the children. For example, some abandoned puppies and kittens can be given proper care, which will be done by the children under supervision from volunteers.
In October 2003, we signed a lease with the Government of St. Eustatius for 4200 square meters (nearly one acre) of land. In 2004, we received grants from SBA (Stichting Buitenlandse Asielen = Foundation for Foreign Animal Shelters) for construction of our building. We are currently completing the first floor construction.
